MNAFEE Emeritus Board of Directors Nominations 2026

MNAFEE is now accepting nominations for the Emeritus Board of Directors! This is an opportunity to recognize professionals who have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to Early Childhood Education and continue to contribute their insights and expertise to advance programs that support Minnesota's families, educators, and young children.

An honorary, emeritus Board of Directors membership may be bestowed on a board member in recognition of a lifetime commitment to the profession. These individuals are valued for their wisdom and extensive experience, often being consulted for insights on key decisions.

About the Role
Emeritus Board members bring a unique perspective rooted in years of involvement and firsthand knowledge of MNAFEE's history, culture, and practices. They play an advisory role in shaping MNAFEE's mission and strategic direction, representing the voices of their colleagues across the state.

This honorary position provides a platform to share wisdom, mentor new leaders, and support initiatives that strengthen the field of early childhood education in Minnesota.

Expectations of Emeritus Board Members
  • Maintain active MNAFEE membership throughout the entire term of service as an emeritus board member.
  • May attend and participate in approximately six (6) Board meetings annually, primarily via Zoom, with at least one in-person meeting. Emeritus members are non-voting members of the MNAFEE Board.
  • Strategic Guidance: Offer advice on MNAFEE's direction, provide feedback on policies, and share insights into challenges and potential solutions.
  • Risk and Opportunity Assessment: Provide perspective on critical issues, helping the board identify risks and opportunities early.
  • Sharing Knowledge: Draw from their history to share lessons learned, best practices, successful initiatives, and past strategies.
  • Mentor New Members: Support and guide new board members, helping them understand MNAFEE's mission and objectives.

Who Can Be Nominated
This honor is granted by the MNAFEE Board to a former MNAFEE Board of Directors member, or a current Board member not seeking re-election, following the nomination process outlined in the MNAFEE Bylaws.
